Spotify May Soon Offer a Personalized Recommendations Toggle
Spotify might be getting ready to let users choose not to receive personalized song suggestions. We don't know exactly how this would happen.
A switch that stops personalized suggestions has been discovered in a test version of Spotify that is being tried out by a few users. The choice could act like a secret mode to stop keeping track of what you listen to for suggestions, or to stop getting personalized suggestions altogether. Spotify uses your music history and preferences to suggest similar music for you to listen to.
MacRumors asked Spotify if the feature will be added soon, but Spotify is still thinking about it. They haven't decided if it will be in the app or not. Spotify has tried out many new things over the years, but some of them didn't work out.
However, the Spotify Community has been asking for this feature to be added for a long time. Parents with kids who like Baby Shark and people who only want to listen to music they like, want to stop getting music recommendations based on their personal preferences.
"I have a special Spotify account and a playlist of music that I chose myself. " Lately, I've been hearing songs in my playlist that I don't like. When I look to see what this is, I notice that it's a suggestion from Spotify. "I don't like it when Spotify messes up my playlist with its recommendations," said a user on the Spotify Community.
"I can't enjoy my music because I always have to ask what song is playing instead of just listening to my own playlists. "
It's hard to enjoy music when so many of the recommended songs are for kids. Yes, there's the Spotify Kids app, but it doesn't work with CarPlay. Listen to "Baby Shark" on Spotify in the morning until this feature is added if you have kids. Enjoy
