Meet Elmiene: A poet with a velvet voice
Elmiene: A poet with a velvet voice
A velvet voice and a magnificent falsetto. Elmiene, with her poetic voice and pen, takes us back years. Back to the Golden Age of Neo Soul, when artists like D'Angelo and Maxwell flourished. It's this young new talent whose ambition is to leave his mark on Soul music that we're letting you discover today.
Debut and buzz on social networks
The Oxford-born British singer and songwriter first came to prominence by posting covers on social networks. When he posted yet another cover, this time a cover of D'angelo's "How Does It Feel", a Neo Soul classic, in August 2021. The video was spotted and shared by American media outlet RNB Radar on the same day. The video made the rounds on social networks, and hundreds of thousands of people discovered Elmiene's magnificent voice and immense talent.
An unplanned Virgil Abloh tribute sparks curiosity
A few months later, in November 2021. It was at Virgil Abloh's last show for Louis Vuitton that people would once again discover Elmiene's voice. This time through the track "Golden", which will not be released until December 2021.
The broadcast of 'Golden' will remain one of the most memorable moments of the 4:55 show. As evidenced by the comments on the livestream, where many spectators were amazed by what they had just heard, and began to ask where this incredible music came from. A song that seemed the perfect tribute to Virgil Abloh, who had tragically died 2 days earlier.
In November 2022, Elmiene decided to return with a new single, "Why (Spare Me Tears)". It was co-written and produced by British singer and producer Jamie Woon. This groovy track was a foretaste of her first project, EL-MEAN, which was to be released a little later.
A COLORS SHOW before the release of the 1st project
In February 2023, with a discography consisting of just 3 singles, he had the great opportunity to be invited to the COLORS studios to take part in an episode of A COLORS SHOW. He performed his 3rd single, 'Endless No More', which he himself described in the COLORS interview as a rather dark song about his fear of losing something he loves and cherishes: his Muslim faith. He describes it as a letter to God. A way for him to remind himself that his faith comes before his success in the music industry.
On 10 March, Elmiene finally gave us the immense pleasure of releasing his 1st EP, entitled 'EL-MEAN'. And as promised, Elmiene's EP stays true to her original aim of sharing her love of Soul music, whether on a Neo Soul production like 'Before I Take A While', or accompanied only by an acoustic guitar like on the melancholy track 'Endless No More'. This EP will delight the ears of all Soul, Neo Soul and R&B fans. Those who have been waiting years for such pure talent, unafraid to remain faithful to the very essence of these musical genres while incorporating his own universe.
